Some polling station executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Asante Mampong Constituency are calling the party leadership to sanction their Constituency Chairman, Luther Asare and two other executives over peddling of falsehood against President Akufo-Addo and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in the area, Thomas Appiah-Kubi.

According to the petition, "Without reference to any authority, either in Mampong, Ashanti region or elsewhere in the country, these individuals embarked on a coordinated campaign of lies, where they alleged, inter alia, that the president had appointed a thief to head the assembly, that he had supervised corruption in the highest order for which President Akufo-Addo had looked the other way and had failed to act".

In a petition signed on behalf of twenty-seven polling station executives by Michael Dwomo Berko, with Kofiase - Ahenbronum electoral area also accused the Constituency Secretary, Malik Agyei and Baffour Asaase Gyima, Communication Officer of hatching heinous plans against the President's appointee and MCE of the area, Thomas Appiah-Kubi.

"We write to vehemently protest and demand sanctions for the crass incompetence and misbehaviour of some constituency executives led by the chairman, secretary and communications officer which transpired on several radio stations".

"We believe that, but for diabolic reasons, these individuals should rather be supporting instead of vilifying and denigrating the president and his appointees", they alleged in a petition received by the Regional Chairman of the party, Mr. Bernard Antwi Bosiako.

The Constituency Chairman, Mr. Luther Asare and other two executives were on radio last week accusing the MCE of doing little to improve the lives of the people, allegation denied by supporters of Hon. Thomas Appiah-Kubi.

According to them, the constituents are fed up with the MCE's position on the party and maintaining Hon. Thomas Appiah-Kubi will spell doom for the party in the Constituency admonishing President Akufo - Akufo to remove him from office as MCE.

But the petitioners in response refuted those claims throwing stating "we support the MCE, who is doing a yeoman’s job for the municipality, and these unprovoked attacks and allegations are not only false but symptomatic of their desire to make the appointing authority of the MCE unpopular and diminish him in the eyes of the public".
