NPP elects Parliamentary Candidates for Ashaiman and Kpone

Ashaiman, Aug. 24, GNA - The Ashaiman and Kpone-Katamanso Constituencies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Friday elected their Parliamentary Candidates for the 2008 general election. Mr Francis Bernard Anyinatoe, a 43-year-old businessman, was elected the candidate for Ashaiman while Mr Samuel Okoe Amanquah, a 39-year-old Accountant, was voted as the Kpone-Katamanso parliamentary candidate.

Mr Anyinatoe polled 61 votes as against 30 and nine ballots polled by two other contenstants -- Mr Seji Saji and Mr Andrew Quaye, respectively.

In a keenly contested election at Kpone, Mr Amanquah won with 23 votes, while his opponent Mr George Noye, polled 19 votes. Speaking at both functions, Mr Lord Commey, National Organiser of NPP, reiterated the call on members and supporters of the Party to close their ranks, so that with a united front they would become victorious in 2008.

Mr David Quaye Annang, Tema Municipal Chief Executive, urged members in the two constituencies to work hard to wrestle the seats from the National Democratic Congress.

The two candidates-elect asked for the co-operation of the constituents to enable them to live up to expectation.
