Kwame-Danso (B/A), Feb. 6, GNA - Mr. Joseph Kumah, a 29-year-old business entrepreneur, has declared his intention to contest the newly created Sene East constituency parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The new constituency, carved out of Sene District, is among the four newly created districts of the region and Kajaji has been cited to be the district capital after the inauguration of all the new districts in March.
Mr. Kumah, who is the International Manager of Media Savvy Training Solution in the United Kingdom, told newsmen in Sunyani that he had decided to contest the seat because the MP for the area had failed the people.
“As a deprived district the communities seriously lag behind in development, especially in the areas of infrastructure, health facilities and logistics”, he said.
Mr Kumah expressed concern about the poor road networks and dilapidated school structures in the area and said some school children in the area continued to study under trees.
He said because of its deprived nature, workers in the formal sector refused to accept postings to serve in Sene District.
He said there are some communities in the area that are not hooked to the national electricity grid and that because of lack of adequate trained teachers, students continued to perform abysmally in examinations.
Mr Kumah appealed to the people not to allow partisan politics to create divisions amongst them and to unite so they could collectively initiate self-help projects to attract support from foreign donors and non-governmental organisations
Mr. Kumah said though he was a staunch member of the NPP, the development of the people was his main priority and not partisanship and appealed to the constituents to vote for him in the upcoming general election to enable him to bring both local and foreign investors to the area.
