NPP gov’t is coming - Bawumia

The vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has rubbished what he says is government’s attempt to curtail his tour of some educational institutions in the Volta Region with the use of gari.

He said because the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government doesn’t want students of the colleges of education to know about the true state of affairs in the country, it had opted to bribe them (students) with food (gari) rather than devising means of restoring their allowances.

He therefore gave the assurance that an NPP government is coming to restore the allowances.

According to him, restoring the allowances is the easiest promise to fulfill by any government since it constitutes only about 0.1 percent of the country’s GDP.

Dr Bawumia pointed out that the withdrawal of the teacher and nursing trainee allowances is a policy which is inimical to the development of the country.

The NPP vice presidential candidate made the observations during the inauguration of the Tema branch of Coalition to Elect Nana Addo and Bawumia (CENAB) on Sunday.

He reiterated that a new economy to be managed by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as president of Ghana would be hinged mainly on creating an enabling environment for businesses to flourish and attract more investors. This, he asserted, would enhance job creation.

Dr Bawumia, former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, re-echoed that an NPP administration would effect a massive reduction in corporate tax and withdraw import duties on raw materials and production equipment rather than imposing high taxes on companies and importers as the NDC government is doing.

“We are going to abolish import duties on materials that are brought in for manufacturing purposes,” he promised.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia called on Ghanaians to reject the governing party which he said lacks ideas to resolve the myriad challenges confronting the country.

He noted that the almost eight years of the NDC government have only brought hardships on Ghanaians without introducing any meaningful policy after wasting GH¢200 billion; unlike the NPP administration which had only GHC20 billion but was able to introduce more policies to better the lives of Ghanaians.

Global President of CENAB, Dr. Kwesi Acheampong, advised members of the association to extend their campaign to all prospective voters to understand the message the NPP has for them.

According to him, they should embark on door-to-door campaign to canvass for votes.
