Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia in the Eastern Region, Baba Jamal, has described President Akufo-Addo’s government as a scarecrow, victimizing state officials, who they perceive as political opponents

Baba Jamal’s comments follow reports of power tussle between the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Asiama and the ruling government.

The fate of Dr. Asiama is uncertain as his legal advisor has alleged that government is pushing for his exit from the Central Bank.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s “Ghana Nie” Wednesday, Baba Jamal said, President Akufo Addo's government has become a scarecrow, hounding top state officials from office and replacing them with New Patriotic Party (NPP) faithful. This, he described as robbing Peter to Paul.

The former Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations revealed that all government officials who have barely served for six months at post were all shoved off with no tangible reasons. Even those on probation were shown no mercy.

According to him, Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Ayisi Boateng’s recent “Some Ghanaians more Ghanaian than others” comments supports his assertion

Lawyer Baba Jamal recounted how late President Mills maintained some District Chief Executives (DCEs) and some government officials who owed allegiance to the then defeated NPP under former President Kufuor.

He said, it was disturbing that President Akufo Addo had failed to emulate such praiseworthy example.
