The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on Ghanaians to vote out the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming general elections.

Speaking at a mini-rally in Tanoso, located in the Kwadaso Constituency of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah accused the NPP, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, of mismanaging the country’s economy and instituting policies that prioritize personal and partisan interests over national development.

The NDC Chairman alleged that the NPP government is systematically working to consolidate national assets into the hands of a select few aligned with their administration.

He cited the banking sector clean-up exercise as an example, claiming it was orchestrated to target political opponents such as Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, and Alhaji Seidu Agongo while directing government investments to Ken Ofori-Atta’s Databank.

“President Akufo-Addo and his brother Ken Ofori-Atta have deliberately collapsed performing banks to enrich themselves and their cronies through Databank,” he alleged.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah also criticized the NPP for the hardship Ghanaians have experienced under their administration, describing their policies as self-serving and detrimental to the country’s progress.

He further urged residents of the Ashanti Region, a traditional stronghold of the NPP, to reject the governing party this time, claiming they have been taken for granted for too long.

He added that even within the NPP, Ashantis are not favoured and accused the President of being unwilling to hand over power to leaders from the region.

“The NPP has always taken the Ashanti Region for granted.

"Voting them out will force their party to reset and recognize your worth,” he said.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah extended his gratitude to the chiefs and people of the region for their support of the NDC and assured them that an NDC government would prioritize inclusive development and accountability.

He concluded by calling on disgruntled NPP members to support the NDC, emphasizing that a change in leadership would restore hope and fairness to the governance of Ghana.
