The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is on the verge of losing its credibility because Ghanaians are disappointed with regards to the change they voted for in the 2016 elections.

In an exclusive interview with Ghanaweb.com, Okudzeto-Ablakwa added that Ghanaians have lost hope in the President and the party as well.

“Many people are saying what was the change about, why did we vote for them If they don’t stand for any principle then they don’t stand for any person, if they don’t stand for any principle then they don’t stand for any person.”

In addition, the former Deputy Minister of Information said the NPP has failed in its bid to fulfill the promises they made to Ghanaians during the 2016 campaign.

“This is not the first time we are seeing major U-turns, they promised to pay all the DKM, God is Love, Ponzi scheme victims. When they came to power, they said we never said that.”

“They promised that by June this year the one district one factory would have taken off, we’re in August already and nobody is even apologizing to Ghanaians, nobody is even saying anything about it”, Okudzeto added.

Prior to the 2016 elections, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akufo-Addo pledged to settle all debts owed to Ghanaian contractors within the first 100 days of his administration if the NPP wins the elections.

However fast forward almost 200 days into his term as President of Ghana, Okudzeto-Ablakwa says Akufo-Addo is procrastinating his pledges.

“They promised to pay all contractors within the first hundred days, at the budget review that was read the Minister is now talking about 2019, that is when he hopes to clear all arrears.”

Another shameless lack of commitment to promises, you make promises to keep them not to break them, not to take the bull for a ride because now you have what you want, but you forget that four years is just a short term.”
