The New Patriotic Party has fixed March 13 to hold parliamentary primary for the Manhyia North Constituency in the Ashanti Region that has been left hanging due to disagreement.

The constituency is the only one in the Region that has not yet elected a parliamentary candidate for the party due to a long standing alleged irregularities and litigation between the two contenders.

But the party on Monday announced that a Peter Mac Manu-committee has managed to resolve all the pending issues for the election to take place in the constituency which remains the only one out of 47 in the region to hold primary.

Consequently, a committee has been formed to spearhead the elections, which will be held at Longford Hotel at Akate Farms. The committee, which begins its work Tuesday, will also be responsible for resolving all issues regarding the election album for the constituency.

Chaired by Maxwell Kofi Dwuma, it has counsel of Elder member Mr. Gyambiby, Deputy Organiser Daniel Boateng, Mohammed Said, Deputy Secretary Kwame Adom Appiah, and 2nd Vice Chair Maame Serwaa Dekye as members

Regional Chairman of the Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who announced the decisions Monday, said the Committee is required to complete work on the abum by Thursday for copies to be given the two candidates in the primary.

He expressed worry about the long standing litigation between the incumbent MP, Collins Owusu Amankwaa and the aspiring candidate, Nana Osei Prempeh.

Mr. Bosiako denied reports that he has given his support to one of the candidates, saying, “I’m not with any of the parties. I’m with Manhyia North. I don’t know anyone so it is not true that I support any of the candidates”.

“All voters should come with peace,” he urged the party members, noting the Police will be on the ground to ensure peaceful polls on Sunday.
