The Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Kwesi Owusu Yeboa has assured members of the NPP that under the distinguished, honest, dedicated and competent leadership of H.E. President John Agyekum Kufuor, the party is going to remain in power for many years to come.

He said though the party was exposed to all sorts to intimidation, harassment and all forms of brutalities, "our leader is a forgiving leader so we must forget the past."

"We are not going to retaliate. We are going to teach them (opposition) the lessons of forgiveness and through that win them over."

The minister who was the guest of honour at the inauguration of the NPP women's wing of the Ho central constituency advised women to be magnanimous and generous even towards their opponents and enemies in order to change the fortunes of the party.

"We must begin to teach our children and we must begin to talk to our husbands that there is enough room on the political platform of the NPP for everybody," he charged them.

He said women as wives and sisters play very influential roles in the development of the country and the party adding

"Once we are identified members of a party that has the requisite, competent experience, dedication and loyalty to the corporate interest of our nation, our government is prepared to extend an offer to you to join us."

The minister stressed the fact that without the active participation of women there is very little the party can achieve and said, "We need you as much as you need us to be able to spread the good message of our administration."

He said the NDC are only deceiving themselves by creating the impression that the Volta Region is their stronghold and a place they are going to use to recoup their dented image.

"We want to send them a very clear message that we, as a political party, are committed to law and order and the rule of law and we are saying it is not going to be possible for them to rely on the Volta Region Their greatest days are far gone by, it is now the turn of the NPP."

"The Sun has set on the NDC for good and it is the Sun of the NPP that has risen and it is that Sun that all the good people, including our noble chiefs and queenmothers, are going to work with."

He appealed to the chiefs and queenmothers to support them in their endeavour as partners in the socio-economic development of the country adding "we want their support, their experience, their knowledge and understanding because after all this is the only region we have and this is the only region our chiefs also have."

"We all have the responsibility to ensure that we bring development to this region in such a way for people to want to visit us"

The minister said Ghanaians having ensured the successful transfer of power from one party to another through the ballot box anyone who might be contemplating coming to power through the barrel of the gun would only be pursuing a career of suicide.

The National Women Organiser of the NPP, Obaa Yaa Afrifa reminded the women of the existence of only one group of women within the party and urged all women to join it.

She warned that the party would not tolerate splinter groups but called for hard work, oneness and understanding.

Madam Joyce Dorkenu, leader of the Ho Central Women's Wing urged women to join the party because it has come to stay.

The Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Ms Gloria Akuffo inducted the 13-member executive into office and charged them to bring about the needed change not only in the party but also in the country.

She also asked them to use their natural talents to woo people to their side.
