NPP inaugurates campaign monitoring team

Sunyani, May 25, GNA - Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Campaign Director, has inaugurated a 15-member Brong-Ahafo Regional campaign monitoring team with a plea to all disgruntled members of the party to appreciate the achievements of the party and redouble efforts for a decisive victory in December. He said regional campaign monitoring teams were aimed at ensuring that there was unity of purpose and collaboration among all NPP members so they could focus on the party's set targets.

"We know that some people who occupied official positions at the government, regional, district and constituency levels but are no longer in such positions are angry and have therefore turned to become apathetic to the party's fortunes.

"The monitoring teams are therefore aimed at going back to the basics to regain the party's strength and help the frontline foot soldiers to develop strategies and plans towards attaining the party's aims in the region", he said.

Dr Apraku explained that the nation-wide tour of the party's flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was aimed at meeting all disgruntled members of the party so they would continue to support the party to achieve victory in the general election.

"The party belongs to us all and there is the need for us all to go back to our roots", he said and added that the flag bearer and his team alone could not run the national campaign but with the active participation of all members of the party.

Dr Apraku said Brong-Ahafo Region was the first region to have such a monitoring team because of its history that a win in the region reflected total victory for the party nation-wide. He said the team would be an advisory, planning and a strategic one, under which there would be zonal campaign teams in the seven zones in the region.

The regional team is chaired by Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Regional Minister, who gave assurance that the team would work assiduously towards achieving results. He cautioned members of the party against complacency and urged them to re-double efforts to maximize especially the presidential votes in the elections.

Mr. Kwasi Adu Gyan, regional chairman of the party, said the NPP aimed at retaining all the 14 seats it won in the 2004 elections and go on to capture eight more orphan constituencies in the hands of the NDC in the region.
