I told you so…

Recent blistering verbal attacks heaped on dissenting views from the New Patriotic Party on the decision of the party not to recognize the legitimacy of President John Dramani Mahama reinforces the position that the NPP is a ‘heartless, criminal and hypocritical entity’, says the founder and leader of the United Renaissance Party (URP), Charles Kofi Wayo

Speaking in an interview with The Al-Hajj, the URP leader pointed out that the issue of political intolerance, which Ghanaians do not want, and for which they voted the NPP out of power in 2008 and 2012, is rather rampant in the current crop of leaders managing the party.

According to him, anytime a member of the NPP stock tried to be real to point out the criminal and fascist nature of the leaders of the party, the others isolated him. He cited Mr. Wereko Brobbey’s case as an example to buttress his point.

“They have an agenda to make money out of the people. If you don’t agree, they attack you…you see how they are attacking Wereko Brobbey, nobody is saying let’s listen to what this guy is saying. Look, if you are with the NPP, you can kill, push drugs and do whatever you like and go free, but if you criticize them, they will attack you”, he stated.

The straight forward politician maintained that, with the NPP, “The moment you try to challenge them…once their own people come out to tell the little truth, they isolate them right away. They are not interested in reality… I know them and I campaigned with them, none of them believe in the truth…if they believe in the truth, why they will attack Wereko Brobbey, Arthur Kennedy and others.” A founding member of the NPP, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby became a punching bag for asking the party to forgo its intended legal battle, “lick” its wounds and prepare for “a better performance in 2016 and beyond.” Dr. Wereko-Brobby said the NPP would just be throwing dust into the eyes of its supporters if they kept on harping on the likely positive outcome of its intended court case.

He was of the firm belief that had the NPP channeled as much energy into protecting the ballot box as the party appears to be doing with the compilation of voting irregularities across the country, the results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC) would have been different.

This comments prompted leading members of the NPP like Kwabena Agyapong, Nana Akomea, Sammy Awuku and PC Appiah-Ofori, who on various media platforms heavily bashed the ex-Volta River Authority boss on his views that the NPP was complicit in its own defeat at the just ended general elections.

The URP founder was particularly not surprise with the development in the sense that “I have told Ghanaians over the years, who these people are...I have leaved with them, I was with them in 2000”

Mr. Wayo in his submission also noted that he had worked with the big wigs in the NPP and knows them to be “braggarts” who throw their weight about claiming they are “lawyers and have degrees” and on top of it, give credence to the positions their fathers occupied in the past.

Commenting on the NPP’s decision to challenge the election of President John Mahama in court, Mr Kofi Wayo was unhappy with what he said were unmerited question marks that the NPP’s actions had generated in some foreign media about the credibility of the EC after it lost the election.

“How can a party of well educated lawyers economists and business people like that elude themselves with claims of rigging in an election which has been certified by the whole world as free and faire and then proceed to support such claims with such unruly behavior, attacking everybody including the AU Chairman?” Mr. Wayo lamented
