Acting Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Dr Michael Kpessa-Whyte has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of lacking alternative policies to sell to the Ghanaian electorate.

Dr Kpessa-Whyte, who is member of the policy team at the presidency, said the NPP has been campaigning since it lost the 2012 elections but has failed to provide credible alternatives to government policies it always criticises.

Rather, the political scientist says the NPP has resorted to attacking some state agencies such as the Electoral Commission and the Ghana Police Service in a bid to cover up what he says are the NPP’s shortcomings.

Dr Kpessa-Whyte told Ekow Mensah-Shalders on Class FM’s Executive Breakfast Show Tuesday 5th April: “If you say the president is not performing I expect you to tell me how differently you would do it. As we sit here, if you ask any prominent member of the NPP their position on education, health, infrastructure, agric[ulture], transport, the answer is zero, yet there have been criticism after criticism.”

He says the electorate in a democratic system like Ghana’s are seeking alternate policies that will bring development which the “governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has demonstrated in its records and achievements and will launch their manifesto for the rest of the development agenda”.
