The aspiring Member of Parliament for North Tongu and a deputy minister of Information, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has stated that in the entire eight-year rule of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he could only remember how competent their leaders looted state lands and enriched themselves out of the state coffers instead of introducing social intervention programs to help the poor.

He described the leaders of the party as being highly competent in churning out lies and facades to the ordinary person on the streets.

In an attempt to unravel how the NPP carried out their “mind boggling” sophistries, Ablakwa stated that one needed “some extreme competence to do that”.

According to Mr. Ablakwa, the way the leaders of the NPP handled the country’s housing issues exposed how they were interested in themselves and not the plight of the people.

Shedding more light on the above point, he gave an account of how the NPP promised in their 2008 manifesto to “convert all slums, all the Zongos into modern apartment buildings and provide them with modern place of convenience”.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, the deputy minister of Information observed that big shots in the party ensured that they housed themselves at the expense of the poor tax payer.

He fumed at them claiming that they bought the prime lands, at a cost far lower than lands sold at Aveyeme which is his hometown.

“Look at the competence they showed in this list of lands that were shared amongst themselves or was it looted in Airport residential area, Cantoments, Ridge and you see the competence? Ebenezer Sekyi Hughes (Switchback Road, GHC 9,400), Mrs. Elizabeth Ohene (Switchback Road, GHC 9,400), SK Boafo (Cantoments, GHC 8,400)… Hon. Dr. Osei Akoto (Cantoments, 9,300)…Shirley Ayorkor Botchey (Number Five Default Road Cantoments, GHC 7,200)”.

“We know where the NPP exhibit their competence and it always about themselves...how to take Airport lands, Cantoments...if you see the Kumasi list you would be more outraged. As for that one, GHC 1,000 ...“donkomi” flat price for prime lands at Ridge and President Kufour himself took four acres”, he added.
