President-elect John Dramani Mahama has noticed that the New Patriotic Party government under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo became tone-deaf to the plight of the average Ghanaian.

According to him, the people of Ghana kept complaining about their challenges to the government, but the government had lost touch with the realities on the ground hence the devastating defeat in the 2024 election.

To John Dramani Mahama, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's claim that the political party is disappointed because they thought they had worked hard and were going to win the election is a clear indication that they had lost touch with the realities of the Ghanaian.

"It got to a point where democracy in the NPP was not what we've been used to and what we all know. It was obvious that they had become tone-deaf in terms of what was happening in the country.

"People's complaints and all that, I don't think that it penetrated because this was the easiest election to predict. They should have seen the loss coming.

"I saw Vice President Bawumia say they were disappointed because they had worked hard, and they thought they were going to win; I mean, it was obvious that they were going to lose this election. That meant that they were not in tune with the reality on the ground," he told Alan Kyerematen and his Alliance for Revolutionary Change.

John Dramani Mahama won the 2024 election with an overwhelming 56%, the first of its kind in Ghana's political history.
