Some aggrieved members of the main opposition New Patriotic Party have dragged the party to court seeking to place an injunction on the forthcoming presidential primaries.

They argue that proper and constitutional procedures have not been followed as far as the organisation of the primaries is concerned.

The party will hold its first special congress on August 31 to trim down the number of seven flagbearer-aspirants to five. About 800 Delegates will take part in that event.

The major congress, through which 115,000 Delegates will elect one of the final five aspirants, is scheduled for October 18.

But ahead of both primaries, some party members say certain things must be put right before the green light is given for two congresses.
