The Upper West Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Abubakari has observed that the time is ripe for the party to return to its original roots.

He indicates that the founding fathers of the party who hailed from the region had among other hopes of making the region a stronghold of the UP tradition and therefore it behoves on the current generation to make this dream a reality.

“This UP party has most of its original founding members from this region including the late Jato Kaleo, the BK Adama, Abaryifa Karbo and SD Dombo. The NPP is the heritage of the Upper West and whatever it will take, the NPP must be restored back to its original heritage. We know sometime, the NDC came to take part of our heritage but we are assuring them that we will not make it 5 but a total liberation as a UP party in 2020”, he revealed

Addressing the Regional Delegates Conference in Wa on Sunday, Alhaji Short as affectionately called, praised the party for its numerous contributions leading to the electoral victory of the party in the 2016 elections making gains in the number of seats it won.

He said policies and programmes that will be initiated by the current government will ensure that Ghanaians are relieved of their suffering but said all these cannot be done in 8 years as anticipated.

To this end, he reiterated his call for Ghanaians to retain the NPP for 20 years in order to return the country to the path of growth following the enormous havoc wreaked to the Ghanaian economy by the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
