Kumasi, Nov. 22, GNA - Mr Daniel Kwaku Botwe, an aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer on Wednesday said the party needed a loyal, marketable and proven leader.

He said such qualities were crucial to strengthen the party's structures for another eight-year term of hard work to move the party and Ghanaians forward in socio-economic development. Interacting with a cross-section of newsmen on his vision for the party and the government in Kumasi, Mr Botwe emphasized that NPP was firm on the ground with its philosophy, tradition and achievements under President John Agyekum Kufuor over the last seven years.

"The party now needs a leader who could reinvigorate the people like never before and he is the right person for that, " he added. Mr Botwe said his political record for the past 25 years as two term General Secretary of the party and former Minister of Information, he understood the pulse of the party and aspirations of Ghanaians and could credibly deliver in line with these aspirations. "Politics is to win political power and use it in the interest of the people and if given the chance, I can link our party and our people to government and build on the good work of President Kufuor's administration."

He pointed out that with his internal and international political exposure he had the zeal and a unique blend of experience, dynamism, vision and purpose to lead the party to victory. "It would no longer be adequate to talk of who has waited longest, who is wealthy, old or youngest but rather a leader prepared to serve, worthy of the party and the people's trust and winning with and for the people," Mr Botwe emphasized.
