A leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central in the Central Region, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has stated that his party was not in full control of affairs of the economy seven months upon assumption of power.

According to him, “the NPP continues to allow the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to needlessly set them up just to score cheap political points.

He cautioned the NPP not to fall for the antics of the NDC.

Speaking at the Central Regional Annual Delegates’ Conference of the NPP at Assin Fosu over the weekend, the vociferous MP pointed out that the NDC was behind all the sabotage the NPP has been suffering since assuming office.

“This only show that we are not in control as a government in power,” he emphasised.

“Someone maliciously contaminated imported fuel just to sell it at a cheaper price and we fall cheaply for this agenda set up for us by our opponent. From February 2015 to December 6, 2016 they had succeeded in doing 49 transactions to the NDC. We must be bold and stand up to them or they will destroy our party”, he added.

He lambasted the NPP government for failing to nominate an Ambassador from the region although the region contributed immensely to the historic victory of the party in the 2016 general elections.

“The Central Region was able to give us 19 out of the 23 MPs in parliament but when it came to appointments of ambassadors how many did we see? None. That is NPP for you”, he lamented.

“Sadly our constituents are bombarding us for appointments but how can we (MPs in the region) help you when we are just “common floor members” in this government,” he queried?

He therefore advised the party to be truthful and honest in their dealings if they want to win the 2020 general elections

The Central Regional Chairman of NPP, Mr. Robert Kutin, encouraged party faithful(s) to continue to forge ahead in unity as well as continue to work hard to ensure the party enjoys another resounding victory in 2020.

Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Ben Allotey Jacobs, who was present at the conference, stated that his party was working very hard to ensure that the victory the NPP was enjoying was short-lived.
