The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said its polling agents will be alert like guard dogs as they observe this year’s general elections at all polling stations across the country.

The party has a strong belief that vigilance on the part of its polling agents will have a positive impact on the NPP’s electoral fortunes in the upcoming polls.

Ghana goes to a crucial election later this year, with the polls expected to be keenly contested between the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

While this election is very important for the NPP’s Flagbearer Nana Akufo Addo who’s running for a three consecutive time, the NDC’s Flagbearer President John Mahama is poised to win the election to avoid being the first one-term President under the fourth republic.

Speaking to sit-in-host, Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM, the National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Sammy Awuku stated that the party will ensure that there’s no laxity in its monitoring of the elections at all centres across the country.

“If you are an NPP polling agent, in the course of monitoring the election if you move an inch from your seat you’ll be replaced. We’ll have to make sure that there’s an effective replacement. Previously during election, an NPP polling agent could visit the washroom leaving agents of other parties seated, but that will not happen in this election.

“We’ll at all times make sure that NPP will not have less than five people observing the elections at every polling station. These are persons who will be part of the process. Aside that the youth in that neighborhood will be also alert. We are making sure that as a party will have enough members at every polling station. This time around after voting we’re not going home as has been the practice years ago, we’ll be there till the voting is over, that is the game change and that is also the sacrifice the youth of the party have pledged to offer in this election.”
