A failed NPP parliamentary aspirant Stephen Amoah has said the circumstances under which he lost his bid in the Saturday election is a “dent on democracy”.

According to him, the balloting and counting of the votes was marred by flaws and obvious inaccuracies.

Mr Amoah who contested the Nhyiaso seat in the Ashanti region only managed 124 votes as against the winner’s 247. The incumbent MP for the constituency Dr Richard Anane was also defeated in the elections. He garnered 110 votes.

Speaking to Ultimate FM’s Patricia Ama Bonsu after the elections, Amoah said even though he was disappointed by the outcome of the elections, it will, nonetheless, deter him from making another attempt at the seat.

“It is not clear, I think there is huge amount of ambiguity over the results. Because the EC themselves accepted that there were excesses and the Police were there and so we were asking for clarification.

“Personally, I will not take any action against the party, but if others will, I can’t do anything about it.

“I have the wiliness and readiness to provide my services to the community and if other people are saying no; if democracy is being dented, what can I do”.
