Sekondi (W/R), Aug. 17, GNA - The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday wrapped up its 16th National Delegates Congress with the adoption of a resolution re-affirming the party's commitment to peaceful, transparent and violent-free elections.

It said, it wanted the electioneering campaign for the December poll to be conducted on issues that would move the nation forward and not violence and rancour.

The NPP therefore, challenged its political opponents to prove not by mere words but their actions that they abhorred violence. President John Agyekum Kufuor and Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama attended the three-day meeting during which the main highlights included the adoption of the party's Election Manifesto and Campaign Strategy.

The Party also called on the Electoral Commission, the body charged with the conduct of elections, to put the necessary machinery and structures in place to make the forthcoming poll devoid of manipulations and defects that could undermine the credibility of the elections.

The delegates pledged their resolve to work tirelessly to return the party to power.
