NPP supporters asked to stop "blame game"

WA, Jan. 9, GNA - Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have been asked to stop blaming individuals and groups of people they perceived were the cause of the party's defeat in Election 2008 and rather unite to face the challenges ahead. The defeat should not dampen their spirit but it should serve as a lesson that must help urge them to correct their mistakes to enable them win elections in the future.

Mr. John Ibrahim Donkor, Wa Central constituency organizer of NPP, made the call in an interview with GNA at Wa on Thursday. He stressed that this was not the first time NPP had lost elections, saying "When the party lost elections in 1992 and 1996, those defeats did not demoralize us. We went back to strategize and God rewarded us for our hard work with victory in the elections in 2000". Mr Donkor urged members and supporters to reorganize and strengthen the party's structures for 2012 elections.

He called on the national leadership of NPP to resolve all differences that worked against the party in Election 2008 and find ways of motivating party activists to start mobilizing support for the next elections.

Mr. Donkor commended NPP supporters in the Constituency for voting for the party in the last elections. He said even though NPP did not win in the constituency in the last polls, votes attained compared to previous election results indicated that the party was growing from strength to strength in the area.
