NPP supporters reject Nana Addo, Kojo Oppong

Some supporters of the New Patriotic party (NPP) in the Ofoase Ayirebi constituency have told the flag bearer of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo that, they do not accept the candidature of Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and have promised to replicate that in their votes come November 7.

The staunch supporters of the party in the constituency expressed shock and dismay about the scheme imposition of a parliamentary candidate by the flag bearer of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, which to them defies and deplete the party’s democratic credentials.

This incident took place at Akim Ayirebi, one of the purported strongholds of the NPP in the constituency when Nana Addo visited the area on his tour embedded with unrealistic promises in the Region…

The Chief of Akim Ayirebi adviced Nana Akufo Addo to make realistic promises rather than embarking on a campaign of deceptive promises. He recalled the painful ordeal they had to endure during the creation of the Akyemansa District with regards to citing of the District Capital which is still fresh in their minds especially the youth who still have it in mind that President Kufour ‘s government gave them a raw deal.

The angry youth displayed several placards with different negative inscriptions at the venue of the campaign to indicate how serious they are on the collective decision they have taken.

The situation in Akim Ofoase was not too different as Okada boys were hired to go round the town to bring in rented crowd from their various homes to fill the empty. Such turn of events exhibited by the NPP leadership rendered the whole process insignificant.

This was because the people did not see any need to waste their time due to the failed promises that the NPP made to them during the erstwhile Kuffuor’s administration.

The media houses, including the “well listened to” Obuoba FM in the area, that took coverage of the entire program failed to report on the happenings in Ofoase–Ayirebi constituency because of the bad reception received by Nana Akufo-Addo.

It was therefore not surprising when the regional chairman of the NPP shifted the goal post by blaming the Independent candidate, Obiri Yeboah on Okay FM as the political brain behind the ill-fated reception received by the party in the constituency.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC)leadership in the Ofoase – Ayirebi constituency felt vindicated because of the numerous developmental projects that the party has done in the area within the span of three and half years under the Mahama-Amissah administration and supervised by the DCE/PC, Adwumawurah Hon.Tom Budu.

Numerous among the completed projects include more than 35 new basic school blocks some of which are Techiman D/A primary school, Otwereso Zion Primary School, Besease D/A Primary School, Paawudu D/A Primary School, Asabedie D/A Primary School, just to mention few.

The government through Adwumawura Tom Budu has constructed a twelve unit classroom block for Akokoaso Snr High Technical School, A six unit classroom block for Ayirebi Snr high school which currently houses students.

This regime has also seen the construction and completion of a two-storey District Assembly administration block,a police bungalow,an ultra- morden ICT centre,a magistrate court,the five town rural water projects in Ofoase,Brenase,Ofoase Kuma etc..

Again the current ongoing road projects in the constituency namely, the construction of the main Chia to Ofoase,Ofoase to Ayirebi,Ayirebi to Oda roads are progressing steadily with the Chia to Ofoase stretch already surfaced with bitumen.

There is also the construction of the Ayirebi to Odumase road which is about eighty percent (80%)complete.

However, procurement processes are far advanced on the Abenase-Otabil-Mukyia-Boso Villa-Adugyan-Sukuran road,as the DCE,Hon.Tom Budu has taking many steps on that particular road. The contractor will soon report at site for work to begin.

The NDC party and its leadership in the Ofoase – Ayirebi constitituency are poised to continue with the good work that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has done and still doing in the constituency and in the country at large.

This will ensure a resounding victory for the party in the coming elections.
