NPP thanks all for mourning Alhaji C.O.P

Tamale, April 23, GNA - Mr. Peter Mac Manu, National chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has thanked all those who mourned with the party in Tamale last Friday on the death and burial of the Adbul Raman Salifu (C.O.P), Northern Regional chairman of the party.

He specifically thanked and commended the National Democratic Congress (NDC) whose members were well represented and that it was an indication of peace and unity exhibited by members of the party. Members of the NDC, who attended the burial ceremony included the newly elected MP for Tamale Central, Mr. Inusah Fuseini, MP for Tamale South, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, Alhaji Seidu Iddi, former Northern Regional Minister and Alhaji Sumani Zakari, Northern Regional chairman of the party.

Mr. Manu told the GNA in Tamale at the weekend that Alhaji C.O.P stood for peace and unity, both in NPP and in Dagbon and expressed the hope that his death would unite the people of Dagbon.

Mr. Manu, who led the NPP delegation to the late regional chairman's burial last Friday in Tamale said, "I wish to express my thanks, especially to members of the NDC and all those who mourned with the party on the death and burial of Alhaji Salifu".

He said the aspiration for peace and security in Dagbon was now gaining roots in the region since members of the NPP and NDC mourned together and called for lasting unity and cooperation among the people. He appealed to members of the NPP in the region to let the death of Alhaji Salifu unite them to fight for a common course to bring peace, unity and development to the region. Alhaji C.O.P. died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a short illness. He left behind three wives and 10 children.
