Kumasi, July 29, GNA - Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Sunday said the Party was poised to make inroads in the three Northern Regions during Election 2008.

He noted that NPP Government had in the last eight years committed more resources to improve socio-economic developments to benefit the people.

"I was shocked at the enthusiasm of most northerners to see the NPP retain power in the elections during my three-week tour of the Regions recently," he said.

Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing an enthusiastic crowd at a Gospel Musical Show organised to commemorate the 16th anniversary celebration of NPP at Jubilee Park in Kumasi.

Among the artistes who participated in the seven-hour event were, Kwaku Gyasi, Pastor Joe Beecham, Pastor Danny Nettey, Philipa Baafi and Grace Ashie.

The rest were, Pastor Josh Laryea, Christiana Love, Noble Nketia, Fred Oware Junior, Ohemaa Mercy, Soul Winners and No Tribe. Nana Akufo-Addo appealed to the electorate from the three Northern Regions to endeavour to vote massively for NPP to continue with its good works in the area.

He said the Party had instituted the necessary measures to ensure

a landslide victory in Election 2008, adding "We are aiming at a one

touch victory" and called on activists and functionaries of the Party

to step up campaigns at the grassroots for victory. Nana Akufo-Addo pledged government's commitment to ensure

the elections were conducted in a free and fair environment to

consolidate Ghana's infant democracy. He urged supporters of the Party who had not registered to

endeavour to register when the voters register was opened on

Thursday, July 31. Mr Isaac Osei, NPP Parliamentary Aspirant for Subin, called for

unity among the Party's hierarchy for peace to prevail.
