Bunso (E/R), April 22, GNA- The Foreign Minister and Member of Parliament for Abuakwa, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would win in Abuakwa South and Abuakwa North constituencies.

He was speaking at the Abuakwa South Constituency Congress of the NPP at Bunso on Wednesday to elect new constituency executives following the division of the former Abuakwa constituency into Abuakwa North and South by the Electoral Commission (EC) this year.

Nana Akufo-Addo called for hard work and unity among members of the party to enable them achieve the party's objective of winning December elections.

The congress elected a nine-member new constituency executive with Nana Asamoah Benin as the chairman, Mr Atta Amenin as the first vice-chairman with Madam Agnes Akuffo as the second vice-chairman. Nana Adi Ankama, Eastern Regional Chairman of the party, told the new executive that under the NPP constitution, constituency executives are elected for a four-year term but due to the "peculiar nature" of the period of their election, they would be in office for only one year after which the constituency would go to congress to elect new executive for four years.

He said there was no way the NPP would loose the two Abuakwa constituencies, saying "what is needed is for the party to win more votes for the parliamentary and presidential candidates of NPP."

Nana Adi Ankama asked the new executive to work hard to win back most of the votes that went to the NDC to ensure that the party wins between 80 to 90 per cent of the votes in December elections. He urged the polling station chairmen to ensure that all those who registered took their pictures when the exercise begins in the region.

The District Chief Executive, Mr Emmanuel Victor Asihene said the NPP Government did not discriminate in its allocation of development projects and had sited projects evenly for the communities in the district.

Earlier the Abuakwa North Constituency of the NPP elected a ten-member executive with Mr Douglas M. Asare as the chairman, Oheneba Ofori Atta, first vice-chairman, Mr Babs Bodinga, second vice-chairman, Mr William Yamba, secretary, Mr Sky Kpodu, assistant secretary and Mr Kwaku Asare, organiser.
