Adukrom, (E/R), Feb. 2, GNA- The National first Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Mr. Stephen Ntim has said that his party would win this year's Presidential Elections by "One Touch" and would not need to go for a second ran.

He gave the assurance that the NPP had no plans to rig the 2004 elections and added that in 2000 when the party was in opposition, it was able to win the elections through a fair means and would always maintain that culture which is in line with the traditions of the party. Mr Ntim however, warn that, the NPP would meet the National Democratic Congress(NDC) boot to boot if they try to employ any rough tactics in the elections.

He was speaking at the constituency rally of the Okere Branch of the NPP at Adukrom in the Akuapem North District on Sunday. Mr. Ntim congratulated the Eastern Regional Branch of the NPP for organizing 11 rallies and urged other regions to emulate the good works of the Region.

Mrs Agness Okudzato, Second National Vice-Chairman of NPP denied that the party is an Akan party and added that she is an Ewe and holds a high national position in the party and had been given the needed curtsies and respect wherever she had been and nobody had discriminated against her.

She therefore urged the people from the Volta Region to change their altitude towards the NPP.

Mrs Okudzato said the NDC is not a party of the Volta Region and argued that, if the NDC was to be a party for the people of Volta Region, the flag bearer of that party would have been a citizen of the Volta Region.

Nana Ohene Ntow, Government Spokesman on the Economy said it was not the responsibility of the Government to determine the price of petroleum products in the country but that is the work of the Petroleum Tender Board.

He said the Government of NDC ruled the country on lies and so it bought petroleum from the world market at a high price and sold it cheaply to consumers and left the country in huge debts.

Mr Alecs Agobo, Eastern Regional Secretary of the party said the NDC is being hunted by its past while in Government hence its continuous shouts that the NPP is planning to rig the elections. He said this time round, "the votes in the 2004 elections would be cast by only the living and no ghosts would come from the graves to vote".

Dr (Mrs) Eugenia Dankwa Quist, Akuapem North District Chief Executive enumerated a long list of road networks in the District, which had been awarded on contract and gave the assurance that all the roads would be constructed before the end of the year, adding that, the Tinkong-Mangoase and the Tinkong-Amanfro road would be tarred. She said the District Assembly is in the process of providing streetlights for all the major towns in the District.

The Member of Parliament for the constituency, Mr Brandford Adu said since he assumed office he has instituted scholarship and bursaries to brilliant but needy students in basic, secondary and tertiary institutions from the constituency to the tune of 30 million cedis.
