Adweso (E/R), May 25, GNA - The Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Mr Yaw Osafo-Marfo on Tuesday said, even though the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government had contracted more foreign loans than the previous government, the former has better managed the economy.

"The NPP government has managed the economy better and tremendously increased the revenue of the country that, despite the high price of crude oil, the country is solvent," he said.

Mr Osafo-Marfo was speaking at a Church service by the Adweso Calvary Methodist Church to honour his son, Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo Jnr, Chief Executive Officer of Macrotech Civil Engineering and Land Scaping Company, for helping the Church to complete its first phase of a building project at the cost of GH¢90,000.

The son pre-financed the project, which involved putting of slabs on the first floor of the building to enable the Church to use the building. The Church was expected to repay the amount at a flexible term and arrangement.

Mr Osafo-Marfo said when the NPP took over in 2001 the country had petrol and kerosene reserves for three days and less than a week respectively.

He explained that, the current import duty waive on rice, would make rice price to fall by almost the same percentage. Mr Osafo-Marfo thanked the Church for offering the opportunity to the son to support the work of God and also for them to show appreciation for the work that he did.

The Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Methodist Church, Right Reverend Fredrick Nnuroh called on people in leadership positions in government not to allow themselves to be detracted by destructive criticisms, but to remain focus and achieve a lot for mother Ghana.

He reminded them that governing people was not an easy task and assured people in authority of the prayers of the Church.

Rt Rev. Nnuroh advised hard working people whose efforts were not being recognized, not to loose confidence but to continue working hard and assured them that the Lord who sees beyond the human imagination, would always show appreciation for their work and reward them.

He congratulated Mr Osafo-Maafo jnr. for his ingenuity and honesty with which he did the work and said the people of Adweso Circuit of the Methodist Church and the whole of the Koforidua Diocese of the Church would never forget the contribution that he had made towards the growth of the Church.

In demonstration of their appreciation, the Adweso Circuit and the Calvary Methodist Church gave Mr Osafo-Maafo a citation and an anniversary cloth.
