NPP will be disgraced after SC ruling - NDC scribe

A member of the Communications Team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gabby Assumeng, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of doing “window dressing” with the “Peace after the Supreme Court Verdict” mantra, saying that the opposition party is not committed to peace as they want everybody to believe.

According to him, religious bodies and civil society groups have failed the country by not telling the NPP in the face to stop destabilizing the peaceful nature of the country; adding that, the groups should not have waited for the situation to reach this far, but should have told the NPP to accept the 2012 election results since there were no issue of irregularities or vote-padding raised during the election.

Speaking on Okay FM, he noted that the media and foreign observers acknowledged that the 2012 election was conducted in a free and fair atmosphere devoid of any rigging, stressing that it is the NPP’s greedy nature to be in power at all cost, which has moved the country to a state of fear and panic. To him, there is no need for the peace rallies and games ahead of the Supreme Court verdict; since any form of disturbance and confusion should be blamed on the NPP.

“...it is difficult to comprehend the motive behind the decision by NPP to send the 2012 election to the Supreme Court…they (NPP) think they are better than any political party to rule the country and that without them no party can govern well…the collapse of the economy and businesses in the country should be blamed on the NPP for driving away investors and businessmen, since the 2012 election petition has created in the minds of people that the country is almost at world’s end,“ he posited.

The NDC Communicator however added that despite the attempt by the NPP to make the country ungovernable, they will be disgraced.

“..I have a strong belief that at the end of the Supreme Court verdict, the disgrace will be more on the NPP,” he said.
