for failing to reprimand Kennedy Agyapong -Kwakye Ofosu
A member of the government communication team, Felix Kwakye Ofosu say, the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP), will pay the electoral prize in the forth coming elections for failing to scold Assin North member of parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
Mr. Agyapong, a fire brand of the NPP was arrested and charged with treason after he declared war on the country for what he claimed were unwarranted attacks on New Patriotic Party supporters and activists by thugs of the ruling party in the just eneded biometric registration exercise.
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in an official statement in reaction to the arrest of their MP made it clear that it does not support any actions that could disturb the peace of Ghana.
The statement signed by Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, the NPP chairman, accused the police of selective justice but condemned any act that could heighten tension in the country.
Mr Agyapong was subsequently given a hero’s welcome at the party’s headquarters after he was granted bail by the court on compassionate grounds.
But the Assin North legislator in a recent interview with Tema based Adom FM,said he felt betrayed by the NPP, that the it did not lend him support.
But, speaking on Radio Gold’s Sixty Minutes on Tuesday, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu expressed shock at Mr. Agyapong’s recent outburst. He suspects that Kennedy Agyapong’s recent outburst is just a ploy by the NPP to make Ghanaians believe that they do not support his genocidal comments.
‘’For him to have come back to tell us that he felt betrayed by the NPP that they did not lend support to him is most shocking, so outrageous in its defiance of logic and common sense. I suspect that the NPP has realized that their conduct in that whole affair has really rankled the well meaning citizens of Ghana and they are going to pay an electoral prize for that kind of disrespect they showed Ghanaians when they offered Kennedy Agyapong all that support’’.
‘’So they have devised a certain rules to throw dust into the eyes of the unsuspecting public to create the impression that somehow they did not support Ken Agyapong’s statement, somehow Ken Agyapong did not represent the views, the aspirations , the thinking of the NPP and that is why they have gotten him to make these pronouncements’’, he pointed out.
