NPP will play by the rules - Nii Adjei Tawiah

Accra, Nov. 19, GNA - Nii Adjei Tawiah, contesting the Korley Klottey parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Election 2008, has assured Ghanaians that the Party would play by the rules in the elections.

He urged Ghanaians to have confidence in the party because it had lived by its promises since it came into power, adding that the party would not do any thing to tarnish its sound track record. "We know we will win; we have not behaved in a way to mess up, but played by the rules. We pray that our friends on the other side of the political divide would also do the same for development to take place, especially under the NPP," Nii Tawiah said in Accra on Tuesday. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on his agenda for the constituency, Nii Tawiah promised to make the provision of employment avenues for the youth a priority when elected to represent the constituents in the National Assembly. "The election is crucial, and we pray that the right leader is chosen to lead the Osu township, Kinkawe, Osu Alata, Osu Doku, Osu Ringway, North Adabraka, Tudu, Odawna Official Town and Asylum Down, which form the main communities in the constituency, to lead the people to tackle the problems of jobs, water supply, and sanitation." As a former Chairman of the Party in the Constituency, Nii Tawiah said he knew the Constituency very well, and his score of more than two thirds of the votes among four aspirants at the party's primaries make him a popular choice among all the parliamentary candidates in the Constituency.

He promised to set up a job and training resource centre, and lead the people to improve on sanitation for a further development of the numerous business interests in the Constituency. Nii Tawiah said despite the main function of the parliamentarian, the political terrain in Ghana required also that the MP became a facilitator of development, and promised to dwell on his good relations with the constituents to bring an accelerated development to the constituency. He said the NPP was neither an elitist nor Akan party, but rather broad-based and invited the Ga-Dangmes to increase their membership of the Party to make room for them to be given more responsible positions in the party and the national governance.
