Former National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku, has asserted that the ruling party will secure victory in the 2024 general elections on the strategy of its strategy.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2024 International Young Democrat Union (IYDU) Conference in Accra on Friday, June 28, 2024, the former National Organiser and now parliamentary candidate for Akuapem North, expressed absolute conviction in the possibility of the NPP retaining power against the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

"The reason why this council meeting is very important to us in Ghana is that it's bringing the world's attention to our election.

"Mr. Chairman, I know you've been following some of the polls about whether the NPP will win or not. But I can tell you, the NPP will win this election on strategy.

"We know the opponent is a known quantity, and we are clear in our minds that this election is between God's people and the kingdom of darkness," he declared.

Mr. Awuku, who is also an advisor to the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, said the party stands tall against the opposition in terms of policy, and there is a need to rally our members, especially the youth, behind the quest for a convincing victory.

"Policy to policy, the NPP stands tall; strategy-wise, the NPP stands tall. What we must do, which we are currently doing, is to make sure that our people, our supporters, believe in the working format, and we will win this election through the ballot box. There won't be any contention about it at all. We can count our numbers; we pray our colleagues can collate their numbers," he stated.

He noted the significance of IYDU as a collaborative platform for the youth of centre-right parties, emphasising the role of the Union in helping the NPP to secure victory in the 2016 general elections from the opposition.

On his part, the current National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Salam Mustapha, expressed appreciation for the opportunity of the conference taking place in Ghana.

He assured his commitment to leading the NPP's youth to deliver the party's victory while emphasising the need to uphold the ideological tenets of party.

The International Young Democracy Union (IYDU) is a global alliance of Centre-Right political youth organisations and the youth wing of the International Democrat Union.

The 2024 IYDU conference in Ghana took place alongside the Council Meeting of the Union in Ghana.

The IYDU conference, a two-day event, opened on Friday with speeches from leading political figures and panel discussions on various topics such as advancing democracy and Centre-Right ideologies, women's empowerment, and leveraging technology for the course of the union and its members.

Some speakers included the current Chairman of IYDU, Michael Dust, who assured the Union's support for the NPP going into the 2024 elections.

Others included Ghana’s Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, Minister for Communication and Digitalisation Ursula Owusu Ekuful, and the former IYDU Vice Chairman Charles Owiredu.

The conference concluded on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
