Accra Dec. 29, GNA - The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday gave the assurance that Government would continue to prioritise the social and welfare needs of Ghanaians to make life worth living for all. In a New Year message, the Party said: "Indeed it is the belief of the Party that the positive policies and programmes implemented by the President Kufuor Government last year created conducive atmosphere, which enabled the majority of Ghanaians to accomplish most of the resolution which they made last year."
The statement signed by Nana Ohene-Ntow, the Party's General Secretary in Accra, said, "while renewing its offer of friendship to opposition parties, the NPP wished that their response to Government policies and activities be geared more towards national building and welfare of the people".
Notwithstanding the occasional provocation and vile propaganda by the leadership of some opposition parties, the NPP said it would not be deflected from the respect for the rule of law or relent in its determination to uphold the principles of democracy.
"The Party wishes all Ghanaians peace, prosperity, national stability and the best of 2006," the statement said.
