Mrs Cynthia Morrison, Central Regional Women Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has presented a flat screen Plasma Television worth 1,720 Ghana Cedis to the Maternity Ward of the Agona Swedru Municipal Government Hospital.
Mrs Morrison, who is also the Director of Maryland Montessori Learning Centre at Agona Swedru, said she visited the ward recently, and realized that it had no TV set.
She hoped that the donation will motivate the nurses and other staff to work hard, to promote quality health delivery at the hospital.
The Women Organizer appealed to the nurses and para-medical staff of the hospital, to give the necessary respect to the patients, in order to erase the wrong notion that nurses are arrogant.
Dr Apetogbor Dzordzegbe, Medical Superintendent in charge of the Agona Swedru Government Hospital, said it faced financial difficulties, and therefore appealed to individuals and corporate bodies to come to their aid, to augment government efforts.
Mrs Janet Opoku, Senior Nursing Officer in charge of the Maternity Ward, thanked Mrs Morrison for the kind gesture, and asked other public-spirited individuals, to emulate her shining example.
She pledged that the staff would take good care of the TV set, to pro-long its life span.
