NPP youth wing contestants storm Kumasi

Mr Frederick Fredua Antoh, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for the strengthening of the youth wing of the party to enable it canvass for support the NPP in the 2004 elections.

He said the 2004 elections were very crucial for the NPP and there was the need to adequately organise and equip the youth Wing to enable it assist the party to retain power in 2004.

Mr Antoh made the call when some aspiring candidates vying for national positions in the youth wing of the party interacted with the constituency youth organisers in the Ashanti region as part of their campaign tour in Kumasi on Saturday.

The candidates were Mr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, who is vying for the post of national youth organiser, Nana Yaw Sarkodie Aboagye, for national youth secretary, Mr Kwame Twumasi Awuah, for national youth organiser and Mr Kwame Asiamah, for national youth secretary.

Others were Mr Pius Hadzide, for national youth secretary, Mr John Boadu, for national youth treasurer and Miss Akosua Agyapong, also for national youth treasurer.

They briefed the constituency youth organisers who would be the delegates for the January 1-3, 2003 congress of the party in Sekondi on their various manifestoes and visions the party.

Mr Antoh advised the contestants to avoid confrontations and personal attacks in their campaign since they were seeking the mandate of the delegates to champion the same goal.

Dr Richard Anane, Minister of Roads and Transport, advised the contestants not to align themselves to individuals in the NPP but to abide by the ideology of the party.

Mr Sam Cudjoe, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party, urged the delegates to vote for candidates who would be able to organise the youth effectively to enable the party to win the 2004 elections.
