A group of National Service personnel have contributed to construct a five-bedroom edifice for the Royal Seed Orphanage at Kwao-Bondzie in the Central Region.

The project was undertaken by the 2017/2018 National Service Group of the CAL Bank.

A total of 125 personnel sacrificed part of their monthly allowances to make sure that the edifice was built for the orphanage.

President of the group, Donaldson Adu Gyamfi, explained that monies were deducted from the allowance of each personnel to fund the project.

He said they were motivated to do this after realising that some of the children at the orphanage had nowhere to sleep.

“When we came here for the first time, the disabled children at this orphanage were sleeping on a wooden structure, the rest of the Children had no place to sleep,” he said, as quoted by TV3 Ghana.

“It was very disturbing that’s why we decided to build this five-bedroom house for them as part of our service to God and our country.”

The complete five-bedroom house is reportedly worth GHc70,000.

At a short ceremony, the group handed over the building to the co-founder of the Royal Seed Orphanage, Naomi Esi-Amoah.

Meanwhile, the Queenmother of Awushie Tetteh, Naatse Ashorkor was also present to witness the presentation.

Naomi Esi Amoah said she was grateful to the National Service personnel, while calling for more support from the public.

The Deputy Executive Director of National Service Scheme, Kwaku Ohene Gyan, also called on prospective NSS personnel to emulate such gestures.

According to him, all personnel must show diligence in their service to the country to enhance socio-economic development.

“National Service is the time to contribute to the nation’s development by serving with the knowledge you acquired through the years of education,” he said.
