The National Service Secretariat (NSS), says it has not been officially been notified about the refusal of personnel to accept postings to Denkyira-Boase in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Ambrose Entsiwah Junior told Accra-based Citi Fm that they are only seeing something like that on social media but no one has officially lodged a complaint with the Scheme.

“We are also hearing this on social media but what is important is that we should not be quick to conclude that they would suffer the same fate as Major Mahama, “he said.

He has however assured those who may be posted to the area to be guaranteed of security since the residents of the town may not be as hostile as they may think.

Denkyira-Boase became a popular town for the wrong reasons after angry residents with life-threatening objects descended on Major Maxwell Adam Mahama of the 5th Infantry Battalion (5BN) lynched him on suspicion he was an armed robber.

Following the release of new postings of service personnel under the NSS this year, there have been reports that some personnel are declining postings to the area over insecurity concerns.

But Ambrose Entsiwah Junior said there is no cause for alarm and appealed to the over 100 personnel who have been assigned to the area to readily accept the postings and move to their duty posts.

“They should rather be encouraged as I believe that they would be properly secured but it will be a management decision if, for some reason, their posting must be reconsidered, “he explained.
