The National Union of Ghana Students in China on Labor’s (May Day) celebration hosted Deputy Minister of Education in charge of General Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency Dr. Yaw Adutwum in a virtual conference.

The conference was on the theme; “The status and future of Ghana’s education system.”

Addressing over 200 students present online, Dr. Adutwum used the opportunity to advise, encourage and implore students to think and dream about the potential differences we can make in Ghana’s education system and the entire continent.

He added that students should not, “belittle their involvement in student politics, but rather expand beyond politics by using these opportunities as an avenue to expand their dreams and build their character.

My vision and involvement in tandem with the plans of the President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Minister have brought into Ghana’s Education system, such as the free SHS and the double-track system.”

On his part, H.E. Edward Boateng, Ghana’s Ambassador to China and Chairman for the evening further encouraged the students to see the positive side of this lockdown by employing it for deeper thinking and possible innovative initiatives for the development of Mother Ghana.

Realizing the enthusiasm of the participants, he however assured that this discussion about Ghana’s educational system is the first of a series to come.
