NUGS Executives call off hunger strike

Accra, Nov 3, GNA - The Executives of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) on Thursday said it had decided to call off its hunger strike for the wonderful support it had received from Ghanaians. A statement signed by Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, President of the Union, said the decision was as a result of the overwhelming response from the Osu Traditional Council, the EGLE Party and Mr Rex Fafa Dogoe, Chief Executive of the Multi Telecom Services, who had offered the Union various forms of office accommodation.

The Executives of NUGS yesterday embarked on a hunger strike to back an appeal to the State and all stakeholders for support, after it was ejected from its offices that was housed in the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) building in Accra.

The statement said the Osu Traditional Council offered two bungalows for NUGS to select one and refurbish for a permanent Secretariat. It said the EGLE Party had also offered two temporary offices at Adabraka, while Mr Dogoe had given the NUGS an office complex to occupy till it acquired its own Secretariat.

The statement expressed NUGS' appreciation to the donors and all who supported and prayed with them.
