Founder of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga has accused the Akufo-Addo led government of using its newly introduced Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo) program to create loot and share avenues for his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

NABCO since its inauguration has scooped criticism from various quarters, with many alleging it is to employ foot soldiers of the NPP who contributed to the party’s victory in the 2016 general elections.

Although government has come out to refute all damning allegations concerning the project, unemployed nurses who have been primed to be included in the scheme have also kicked against the program, saying it doesn't address their grievance of being gainfully employed.

According to them, the meager salary of GH? 700 which will be paid to the workers, and the employment period of three years does not guarantee them of permanent jobs.

Speaking in an interview with George Kwasi-Bright of Afrikan Post Newspaper, Dr. Ayariga who backed earlier claims that the initiative is to create employment for party foot soldiers further alleged that government was going to waste the country’s resources to pay people for no work done.

“If you train people to be graduates and you want to engage them by giving them jobs, you don’t start by giving them unemployment benefits. The GH?700 they want to pay to them is just to say look, we have hundred thousand foot soldiers of the NPP that we need to find jobs for, so let’s put up a module to say we want to engage hundred thousand students and then we bring in seventy thousand NPP foot soldiers and then add thirty students and then we start paying them. Paying them for what work? You don’t start giving salaries before someone works, you create the jobs, people work then you pay them.”

Mr. Ayariga also stated that his party was ready to look into the matter and address it extensively to produce more permanent results.

“When I get back to Ghana my party will issue a statement on this. We will bring out a module to prove how the loot and share will be done and where the money will be going. We must not forget that, at the end of the day, government is going to spend one hundred and ninety million dollars every year just to pay salaries to these young men for no work done. Is this job creation or some form of looting?” Mr Ayariga asks.
