Naa Torshie Must Pack Out Of Tema West Now-Ampofo Speaks

The just ended primaries of the NDC in the southern sector which pulled some stalwarts and gurus of the party to contest in their various constituencies has come to a successful end as Local Government Minister, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo was emerged victor in Tema West and has asked the NPP MP Irene Naa Torshie Addo should start packing to leave the constituency now.

Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo pulled 193 votes with a first time strong contender, Lawyer James Enu who pulled 104 votes. George Medie had 21 votes, Richard Fiadomor, a lecturer at the Maritime Academy got 7 whiles former MP Mrs. Gladys Boateng had single one.

Speaking to the media, the Mr. Ampofo called for unity and understanding among the rank and file of the party to spar it out in 2012 to win the seat. He said it’s time for the NDC to win the parliamentary seat from the NPP. He pointed out that the NPP must start packing now to leave the seat because their time is up adding that he is coming with full vigor to win the seat. He said Naa Torshie and the NPP are shaking because they have no hope of retaining the seat in 2012.

Hundreds of delegates who thronged the school for the Deaf Hall at Adjei Kojo at Tema in support of Mr. Ofosu Ampofo could not hide their bliss as they splattered victory powder haphazardly, jumped and danced to musical tunes. The Local Government Minister said in the one year left for the NDC to complete the 4-year term, Tema will receive massive development. He mentioned the construction of drainages in the metropolis, construction of asphalt roads, the lighting system on the Tema-Motorway and many more which cannot even be mentioned under the Better Ghana Agenda.

The other four aspirants also pledged their unflinching support to Mr. Ampofo to ensure that the NDC wins the seat come 2012. In his victory speech, he announced Lawyer James Enu as his campaign Manager.

Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo being a staunch believer in democracy and a grass root organizer has served as a DCE, Member of Parliament, National Organizer of the NDC and has held Ministerial positions and has also distinguished himself in playing vital roles towards helping the party achieve its principles and objectives.

One thing that may let the NPP lose the seat to the NDC was the recent pronouncement by the former MP and Majority leader of the NPP in the erstwhile; Mr. Abraham Aidoo who has vowed to contest an independent slot who majority in the constituency have observed that he will split the NPP’s vote into two parts and give chance to Mr. Ampofo and the NDC to win very easy when they work hard.
