Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has indicated his willingness to provide the country with the much needed transformational leadership that is committed to fighting corruption and dedicated to the welfare and wellbeing of the Ghanaian.

He was outlining what an NPP government under his leadership would do should Ghanaians give him the mandate to govern the affairs of the country at the 2nd Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Presidential Debate on Tuesday. The IEA Evening Encounters is to enable the presidential candidates sell their policies and strategies to the general public ahead of the December general elections.

Nana Akufo-Addo was originally scheduled to meet the IEA two weeks ago but requested that the programme be rescheduled following the death of President John Evans Atta Mills.

He is the third Presidential candidate to sell his vision to the Ghanaian electorate through the IEA platform.

The Evening Encounter has already seen the flag bearers of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Hassan Ayariga and the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Abu Sakara Foster taking their turn and explaining to Ghanaians why they should be elected president of the nation in the December polls.

Expressing his determination to “fight corruption aggressively” at the Evening Encounters with Presidential candidates of the four political parties with representation in Parliament contesting this year’s election, Nana Addo said he has the best team who are incorruptible and believes that together the NPP administration can effectively fight corruption.

“It is clear that corruption has become rampant in these last few years, robbing us of much needed resources for our development. I am determined to fight corruption aggressively, and I can do so, because I am not corrupt, have never been corrupt, and will demand the same of my team. Accountability and transparency are the hallmarks of good governance. Ghana needs this, Ghana deserves this and I, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, pledge to deliver this to the good people of Ghana,” he promised.
