A sports journalist, Charles Osei Asibey, who doubles as the President for the Arm Wrestling Federation has expressed disappointment in the current administration, for failing to extend an invitation to sports editors at the maiden media encounter held at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday.
Speaking in an interview with Rainbow Sports, the member of the Sports Writers Association, lambasted successive governments for failing to also extend invitation to senior sports editors when they hold encounters with the media.
According to him, he has consistently condemned the act but it seems ''our leaders do not prioritize sports and do not regard stakeholders in the sports fraternity.
Sports he said contributes so much to the country but our leaders do not see it that way. It is just unfortunate.
It is not only Nana Addo who is at fault, Mahama did the same thing and those he took over from were also at fault.’’
He added: ‘’they will always invite political journalists but do not extend that invitation to sports journalists because they believe it is not important.’’
Charles Osei Asibey said he was extremely disappointed and charged the new administration to appreciate the role of sports journalists in the country and extend invitation to them when next he holds an encounter with the media.
