With some few weeks for Ghanaians to elect a new President, the leader and standard bearer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and incumbent President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to reject Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

He said the Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo doesn't posses what it takes to unite and develop the country in the unlikely event that he becomes the next President.

President Mahama said "we look at experience and the track record of persons who want to lead, clearly Nana Addo doesn't have any. If you got a driver who couldn't take care of a Tico and had an accident with it, would you give him a new bus? No, because he is not experienced."

The President is in his third day of his five-day tour of the Brong Ahafo region to campaign ahead of the 2016 general elections.

He had so far visited Yeji, Prang, Bassa, Kwame Danso, Dwan and Amantin. The rest are Odomasi, Bechem, Duayaw Nkwanta and Abessim.

President Mahama who is ably supported by his wife Nana, Dr. Lordina Mahama who is a native of the region.

The President said, a leader is supposed to unite and move his party forward, saying "if this small party you can't handle, you have sacked your party chairman, general secretary, Agona West chairman, Cape Coast chairman....it meant that you are impatient, autocratic and divisive in nature."

He noted that Ghana needs peace and unity to work hard to develop the nation, but if you couldn't keep a Tico car, is it a tractor you could take care of? He queried.

He called on Ghanaians to heed to the advice of former President Kufuor who cautioned the NPP not to elect a leader who is full of tension, and not vote for a successor who has tension around him because that person will divide the party. The President paraphrased a video of former President Kufuor circulating on social media where the former President was cautioning his party executives.

According to him the party didn't heed to the former President's prophesy the reason the party is in tatters under a demagogue.

I am the leader of the NDC and we are united and focused on how to develop Ghana. God is with us and he will give us victory come Dec 7.
