Former Deputy Local Government Minister under erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) and National Vice Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has attacked the politicization of government businesses under this current government.
“Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) must switch from campaign mode” Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, one time DCE for Fanteakwa in the Eastern Region advised.
“Some appointees who were campaign managers, election coordinators for New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 polls are behaving in their offices as if they are still in campaign mode”, he said on Accra-based Peace FM
According to the NDC Director of Elections for the 2016 polls, government should employ services of Local Government experts to school MMDCs on their responsibilities as people representing the President in their localities.
His advice follows comments by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Denkyira West in the Central Region Daniel Appianin, which sought to justify the mob attack that led to the death of the detachment commander Captain Maxwell Mahama.
“I listened to the DCE who was called by a radio station about the murder of Captain Maxell Mahama and he clearly exhibited ignorance as chairman of the District Security Committee”
“He sought to do politics with the whole issue. I also listened to some ministers and they also have the same problem of the DCE. I think they all need education about their jobs” Hon. Ofosu Ampofo suggested.
