Nana Akomea has condemned the conduct of the National Democratic Congress' representatives in Parliament following Speaker Alban Bagbin's declaration of four seats as vacant.

Declaring the seats vacant has stirred controversy in Parliament, with the NDC Minority claiming a majority in the House.

There was an unusual scene today as the Minority occupied the majority chamber while the Majority boycotted the House, compelling the Speaker to adjourn proceedings indefinitely.

“We don’t have at least half of all members of parliament present. Consequently, in view of the current circumstances, the fact that there’s a question on the composition and constitution of Parliament, and having regard to public interest and the exigencies of the state of affairs in Parliament, I will proceed to, in accordance with Standing Orders 59, adjourn the House indefinitely,” the Speaker stated.

However, the Supreme Court has stayed the order by the Speaker, but the Minority insists they won't back down on their decision to assume majority in the Legislative House.

Commenting on the issue during Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' show, the STC Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chairman of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign team, Nana Akomea, finds the Minority's disregard of the Supreme Court unacceptable.

"What the NDC is doing is bad... They are being undisciplined. They are being unruly and they have to be brought to book," he remarked.

Nana Akomea explained that the Supreme Court is the final arbiter when there is a misunderstanding over the law or what the constitution says concerning a matter; hence Parliament must adhere to the court's verdict.

"The entire democracy we have today is built on the Supreme Court being the final arbiters when it comes to the law," he emphasized.
