The traditional and developmental history of Senchi witnessed a transformative milestone on Saturday, December 20, 2025, with the official installation and outdooring of Nana Akosua Offeibea I as the Nkosoǝ Hemmaa (Developmental Queen Mother) of the Senchi Traditional Area in the Eastern Region.
The new Queen Mother, known in private life as Princess Akosua Morklin, is an accomplished businesswoman who now assumes a sacred mandate as a custodian of social progress and community development.
The colorful ceremony was attended by a cross-section of society, including traditional authorities, opinion leaders, and government officials, all gathered to witness the formalization of a new era of leadership.
Nana Akosua Offeibea I swore the solemn oath of allegiance to Nana Offei Addo Agyeman II, Chief of Senchi and Nifahene of the Akwamu Traditional Area.
In her acceptance remarks, she made it clear that her stool is not merely a ceremonial honor but a "modern covenant of service."
“This stool is not a throne of rest, but a workbench of consecrated action,” she declared, emphasizing that her duty is to execute practical solutions to the pressing needs of the people.
To provide a clear roadmap for her reign, the Nkosoǝ Hemmaa unveiled a comprehensive Three-Pillar Development Charter focused on Health, Sanitation, and Education.
Recognizing that the local Health Centre serves approximately 12,000 residents but lacks vital amenities, the Queen Mother pledged to revitalize the facility into a fully functional lifeline.
Under health, she announced key initiatives including providing a dedicated cooling storage facility for medications by June 2026 and paying the annual National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) premiums for 500 vulnerable residents.
Also under sanitation, specifically public health and safety, she emphasized on combating the threat of diseases like cholera. Nana Akosua Offeibea I announced a partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to construct four modern Biofil toilets at strategic locations. She also instituted a mandatory monthly community cleaning day to ensure environmental hygiene.
Focusing on children as the "Nsoroma" (Stars) of the community to underscore her passion for education, she announced the launch of intensive pre-BECE preparation classes. This initiative aims to achieve a 100 percent pass rate, supported by the provision of essential teaching and learning materials and annual motivation sessions for teachers.
The Queen Mother articulated a deeply inclusive vision, promising that the voices of women would guide her counsel and urging the youth to take ownership of development efforts.
To ensure the highest standards of accountability, she has established the Office of the Queen Mother Secretariat at the Palace Annex. Staffed by a professional team—including a Project Officer, Accountant, and Community Liaison—the Secretariat will oversee the transparent management of resources.
Furthermore, she committed to hosting public Quarterly Town Hall meetings at the Market Square to provide progress reports and receive direct feedback from the citizenry.
In a spirited call to action, Nana Akosua Offeibea I reached out to the Senchi Diaspora, urging them to remit their expertise and skills to build their homeland. She also appealed to "Corporate Ghana" to fulfill their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by investing in the town’s infrastructure and human capital.
Concluding with a message of hope and unity, she proclaimed, “AMANFOƆ, SENCHI AYƐ YIE!”—a declaration that Senchi shall be well. She expressed her desire to be remembered for a legacy defined by humility, service, and a transformed mindset of self-reliance, ensuring Senchi emerges as the true jewel of the Akwamu land.
