She has been hit with a barrage of criticisms with some describing her as a complete disaster and incompetent personified but Information Minister, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid is of the greatest conviction that his deputy, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei is up to the task.

“She’s doing a great job,” the minister affirmed and shot down suggestions for her removal saying, “I don’t think she should be reshuffled.”

Nana Ama Dokua has not been in the good books of some critics following utterances she has made in recent times.

Her remark on the controversial 998 staff working at the Jubilee House where she justified the numbers suggesting that it was in line with government’s decision to create jobs for the Ghanaian people led to a public outrage.

She argued that persons recruited were to help government realize the job creation dream as they would carry out strategic plans, a comment some labeled “reckless”, especially when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) spoke against the 678 staffers at the presidency under John Mahama.

It would also be recalled that Nana Ama Dokua in a Facebook post took a swipe at former President John Mahama for mocking President Akufo-Addo.

Mahama taunted Akufo-Addo saying the NPP government might need a miracle from the controversial pastor, Daniel Obinim, via his Obinim Sticker, to overcome its “super incompetence”.

“The incompetence is so bad… the President and his government need an Obinim Sticker. If it really works, they may need an Obinim sticker,” Mahama said while addressing his party supporters during the Unity Walk in the Upper West Region.

In a sharp rebuttal, Nana Ama Dokua wondered whether Mahama had the moral right to jab Akufo-Addo as she described the former President as “the suspect and beneficiary” of “malpractices” in the 2012 presidential elections in Ghana, as well as the “worst” and “most incompetent” election observer to have monitored polls in Kenya and Sierra Leone.

“After all the trail of embarrassments you brought back to Ghana recently, to remain relevant in Ghana politics, you describe President Akufo Addo today, as though you were talking about your ownself. A president who may need an Obinim’s sticker is still 100% more competent…,” she stated.

For some critics, such a comment should have come from a serial caller; not a deputy minister who “cannot construct good sentences” and appears to be redundant.

But in the midst of all these, Dr. Abdul-Hamid says Nana Ama Dokua, like other two deputies, has done a yeoman’s job in ensuring the success of the Akufo-Addo-led administration.

“The only judgement I can pass to the president is that I like what she’s doing…” he said on ’21 minutes with KKB’.

Asked what her job description is, the minister answered, “She’s responsible for coordinating all the agencies under the ministry and she’s also the government spokesperson on security matters.”
