Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New

Patriotic Party, and Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, NPP National Chairman, will lead a

post-primary solidarity tour across the country, starting from tomorrow, May 5,

and ending on May 16.

Dubbed “All Hands on Deck” rallying tour, the exercise, which takes the national

leadership to all ten regions, will enable the leaders to meet the respective

regional and constituency executives together with elected parliamentary

candidates and losers to build solidarity among the rank and file works hard

towards achieving the party’s ultimate aim, which is victory in the 2012 general

elections.

Speaking exclusively to the New Statesman, Nana Addo said, with the primaries

out of the way, all was now set for the party’s 2012 campaign to begin.

We have now completed our internal reorganization by the peaceful and

transparent selection of our parliamentary candidates and can now turn our

attention fully to mounting a vigorous campaign that will bring victory for our

party next year and relief to the mass of our people in 2013 and beyond,” he

said.

He went on to congratulate “the party leadership at all levels, the aspirants,

delegates and the entire membership of our party for the mature, competent and

peaceful manner in which the whole exercise was successfully completed,”

describing it as yet another evidence that “the New Patriotic Party continues to

blaze the trail for Ghana's democracy.”

It will be recalled that in February, Nana Addo, Jake, General Secretary Kwadwo

Owusu Afriyie, Campaign Manager Boakye Agyarko and head of the party’s Conflict

Resolution Committee, Akosua Frema Opare-Osei, went on a similarly novel

pre-primaries national tour to encourage a peaceful and transparent primaries.

Out of the 220 constituencies where the primaries took place last weekend with

516 aspirants, only two ended up with aggrieved contestants presenting petitions

to the party headquarters, North Tongu and Okaikoi South.

Many analysts believe that exercise of proactive leadership engagement by Nana

Addo and his team contributed massively to the all-round success chalked by the

party in the weekend’s parliamentary primaries.

It is also expected that the post-primary tour will serve a similar purpose.

The itinerary of the “all-hands-on-deck” nationwide tour is as follows:
