It appears the former first Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and her husband, former President Rawlings are still committed to the cause of the NDC despite Nana Konadu’s humiliating defeat to President Mills in the flagbearership contest in Sunyani last month.

Speaking to a gathering of NDC supporters in the Ashanti region for the first time since her defeat, Nana Konadu said she still stands by the principles that motivated her to contest against President Mills.

According to Nana Konadu, it is her ambition to see the NDC re-discover its true identity and move the nation forward.

The former first lady described as unfortunate, claims that former President Rawlings will quit the NDC following her rejection by delegates at the Sunyani congress.

“I still stand by the principles that motivated me to contest for the NDC flagbearership although I did not win. I have not given up on that, truth and justice, job for the grassroots, job for the organizers, job for the leaders, job for the executives; I still stand for these values and convictions. I will continue to fight for truth to ensure that the NDC is stronger and becomes the best.

“The founder would have wished to come with me but he has travelled, as for those who say he has been sacked from the party that cannot be so”.

The founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement also dismissed claims that she negotiated for Ministerial appointments with the Presidency when asked to withdraw from the contest.

She further rubbished reports that prominent persons pleaded with her to rescind her decision to contest President Mills which she refused.

“Before the congress some lies were told and are still being told, some say I asked for five ministerial appointments in addition to money before I would step down from the contest. That is not true; if you hear all these claims please ignore them”.
